treasures in unpacking...

Gabi found some treasures while we were unpacking. A pair of sunglasses that fit her just right! She happily smiled and pranced around while wearing her "pretties."

She also found an old jewelry box that my grandma gave me when I was little. I gave it to her and she loves her new "pretty box" and puts her necklaces in there for safe keeping. I guess we are starting the jewelry addiction early here! :)

Baby doves fly the nest...

Sorry this post is way overdue. The baby doves flew the nest! They stayed close by for a few days while they practiced flying.

The pics of them in the nest are a few days before they took flight.

I managed also to catch one strutting around the yard before she flew away.

Mama dove had a few days off and then it was back to the nest. She has a new set of eggs she is sitting on now (hussie). The cycle continues. :)

An architect in China?

Last Sunday we were over at my parent's house for dinner. Afterward we were talking about how my dad and a friend have been in contact with a company in China that was making some prototypes for a project they are working on. He mentioned how frustrated they were with the language issues and the mistakes that haven't been added or fixed on their projects. Someone said "We need to find someone who speaks Chinese"

Just then Gabi, who had been playing quietly nearby, said "Ni hao!" (She's been watching NiHao Kailan on Nickelodeon).

It was hilarious!!

The next day she built this (she asked mom for help putting the "pretties" on up high) :)

Oh and one other addition... You know your child may have been exposed to too many languages when she call the moon La Moona! LOL

The baby doves are growing up...

Mama dove leaves pretty regularly now and so we are able to get some better shots of the babies. Here is one I took a few days ago

And one I took this morning.

They are starting to look so cute!

Baby bird pics...

So we managed to catch a picture of the babies when mama dove went out. This was just the other day and they don't have their eyes open yet. You can't see it very well but there are two of them. Enjoy...

Mama dove update...

Today we saw at least one baby bird! Doves only have 1 or 2 at a time and will likely nest 4 more times over the summer. I will try to get some pictures. :)

Spring is here....

We have a lovely visitor here on our back porch. A mama mourning dove. She is affectionately known as "Mama Dove." How original huh? LOL

She lets us go in and out as much as we want and takes a quick trip in the early evening each day for a drink after scoping out the surrounding area for predators. She is a good little mama and while we haven't taken a look to see if there are any eggs there in her nest, we hope to hear some little peep peeps soon.

Oh and happy 100th post to me! YAY.

Online journal...

Maybe I am behind the times but I just found this. As a person who HATES to write in her journal but likes to look back on things in my life and learn from my past experiences, I think this is a great way for me to start up writing in a journal. Blogging is great, but sometimes there are things that are just too personal or private to post for all to see.

Enjoy...

Ragnar

So the last week in February my dad, brother and others from our ward ran in a relay race called Ragnar. It was 202 miles from Prescott to Mesa. These relays are taking place all across the USA. The one in AZ is called Del Sol.

There are 12 members at the most. Each team member runs three legs, ranging between 3 and 8 miles. This relay race is physically demanding, but legs vary in difficulty, and participants can choose which legs they run. This unique relay format makes the Del Sol an accessible race for beginners yet challenging enough for the most competitive.

The girls all went to go cheer on our family members and team at their last exchange point in Fountain Hills. I was surprised to see runners of all ages and sizes there and having a great time. Seems like something I might like to train for, maybe next year. I was so proud of Dad setting the example for fitness in our family. Dad is already continuing to train for the next one he is doing in Florida where they will run from Clearwater to Daytona Beach Nov 20-21st.

Some before and after...

So.. I don't have the amount of before and after pics I wanted mostly because the house is in shambles there is a lot of leftover trash and junk and cleaning we need to do even to move our own stuff in but here is a peek. :) I promise to get some better pics as we move stuff in. I won't bore you with the details of everything we had done, let's just say that this house wasn't as easy as pick new flooring, install and paint walls. :) Thanks to everyone who helped out, we love you!

The wood flooring is showing up a lot more red than it is in real life. It is an American Walnut and our carpet is a brown and sand color low frieze carpet.
