Welcome baby Ezra
He is here!
Ezra Villalobos Vincent was born on Friday June 4, 2010 at 8:21PM weighing 8lb 3oz. 21 inches long.
Birth story ahead...Skip to cute pictures and Gabi sayings if you aren't interested in the details (not that I am too detailed, but FYI)

It was hard to keep going the last few weeks and days. I had psyched my self out that he was going to be born early like Gabi, so when that time came and went I had some mental shuffling to do. Overall, I felt I was patient enough both mentally and physically to just wait him out. However, it didn't help that once I went over my June 2nd due date that people kept pestering me to find out if anything was "happening" :-)
On the day before my due date, I decided to treat myself to a massage. I found a place that had a drop out center in the table so I could lay on my belly. It was sooo nice!
Despite multiple trips to the chiropractor because of lower back pain, swollen feet and hands, and numbness in my fingers, this pregnancy went just as smooth as the first one. We used the same doctor, Christine Brass-Jones and a doula named Jessica Wild that we did with Gabi. Since I went past my due date, my doctor ordered a NST (non stress test) and Bio Physical profile on June 3rd. The baby did great and things were looking good, except he was OP (head down facing my stomach instead of head down facing my back)...just like Gabi was...which made for some "fun" back labor with her.
I don't do internal exams unless I go over my due date. I had a doctor's appointment scheduled for June 4th at 2pm. Late in the evening of the 3rd, before we went to bed, I told Jack that he probably should plan to stay home from work the next day because I had been having some sporadic contractions throughout the evening. Nevertheless, I was able to sleep that night with not much of a problem.
On June 4 at about 9am I had some contractions and some "show", so I let our doula know. The contractions didn't seem to be too regular (maybe every 3-5 min) and weren't really interfering with anything I was doing, so I just decided to go about the day. I made breakfast, showered, makeup etc. I was listening to Birth Day affirmations from Hypnobabies on my iPod on low for most of the day. When I finally started timing the contractions they were about 2 min apart and about 1 min 40 seconds long. They still weren't terrible, but I did sit on my exercise ball and rolled my hips in a circle for about 1/2 to an hour or so while I timed them.
When I got bored timing them I finished getting things and Gabi ready for the doctor's appointment. I went to the bathroom, and there was some more "show". Jack was frustrated that I wasn't giving him more information on my "status", but there wasn't really much to tell. I was still fully functional, and unless I could tell there was an emergency, I felt there wasn't much to say anyway.
We got to the doctor and I was still having contractions, but I hadn't timed them in a while. It would have been great if one of us had an Iphone we could have downloaded this app
After a quick check Dr. Brass said I was 5-6 cm and 80% effaced. I didn't see this but Jack said that she looked at him and rolled her eyes like, why are you guys even here!?! Hey, I had an appointment to keep, right? ;) Besides, things were still going well and I felt fine. She offered to break my waters, but I said no. She said asked if I was sure, because I would "go quick" if she did. I declined again. (It's a good thing I listened to myself too...) So the doctor said "Well, I guess I'll be seeing you in a couple hours then!"
We had our hospital bag with us, and Jack wanted to go straight to the hospital, but we had Gabi with us. He suggested that we have my mom meet us there so we could hand her off, but I wanted to go back home so we could switch out Gabi's carseat and cars. Jack agreed, but on the ride home I could see that he was totally stressed out and tense. I think he was thinking I was going to have the baby before we made it to the hospital! I just kept trying to reassure him that I was ok and we had time to go back home and do this. I was still making jokes walking around moving and grooving, and things were fine.
After we got home and met my mom I called our Doula to ask her to meet us at the hospital. We got there at about 3:30pm and were told by the staff that all the OB triage rooms were full. Jack got this look of panic on his face and said well we were just at our OB and she was 5-6 cm and 80% effaced. "They said OH! Ok, then we will see what we can get together for you." So we ended up having to wait in the lobby me still having contractions....for about 45+ min! Good thing I didn't have my water broken because I am pretty sure we might have had the baby there in the lobby having to wait around for everyone.
At one point my doctor called the hospital to see how things were going and if they needed her to come down yet, and she was also shocked that they still didn't have me in a room. She demanded that they find me a room ASAP. The hospital still have any regular delivery rooms, so they put us in an OB quarantine room! LOL! Way to make you feel special! I think the nurses didn't believe how far along I was because I was still walking, talking and looked "fine" as we went to the room.
Once in the room, they checked again and was at a 7.5-8 and about 90% effaced. After confirming that the baby was still OP, I decided to have an epidural. I had planned to go natural, but after knowing what it was like when Gabi was OP I was not sure I would be able to relax enough through the back labor, cervical swelling, and everything else that happened last time.
I was a little worried about the epidural because the last time I got one the doctor botched it, giving me a horrible spinal headache. I explained my concerns to the anesthesiologist and she did a great job. YAY! No horrible headache this time, but I did have the shakes and was cold for what seemed like a really long time. They broke my water after the epidural had taken effect and after that things went really quickly. We let Ezra labor down on his own until he was at +2 station. It all seemed to go quickly, and I was happy that when it was time to push that the "shakes" and cold feeling had gone away. About an hour after my water was broken we were ready to push. While I was pushing everyone was really positive and encouraging. Except for one nurse. She kept saying harder, harder as I pushed and actually sounded kind of negative about it. After one contraction I asked her if she could say "more" instead. Dr Brass and Jessica both gave me a knowing and approval look and nod. The nurse happily complied with my wishes. After only 20 min of pushing (just like Gabi) Ezra was out! They put him on my chest right after and he was doing great. He let out a great big cry and he was moving like crazy. We were so happy he got here safe and sound!

Grandpa meeting his first Grandson!

Great Grandpa meeting his first Great Grandson!

Cute Gabi sayings to baby brother:
The first time she saw him in the hospital she said "Oh Grandma, he's so cute!"
A few days after we were home I overheard her saying "Hi baby brother, I'm 3. I'm 3! What's your name?"
Now she knows his name is Ezra and says to him "Hi Ezra" or "Baby brother's name is Ezra mama, it's Ezra!"
She is always asking to hold him or saying how cute he is.
I am glad she is doing well with the transition and we feel so blessed to have our two kiddos!
We are loving having this little man in our home!

Family pictures
These pictures were supposed to be on all of your Christmas cards but it never happened. After many times of rescheduling we finally got some family pictures taken before #2 arrives. The last time we had a family picture was in 2008 so it was high time we had them updated! Big thanks to Alacey for the pictures.
Gabi was such a handful that day. Either she was pouting or didn't want to sit for a picture and just wanted to run around and explore...sigh. So we didn't end up getting as many group shots as I had wanted so we didn't have much to choose from. :( That and I think Jack and I are not really photogenic! We thought we looked horrible even in the "good shots"! LOL
Enjoy!

This is how Gabi spent most of the shoot. It was this or her running around like a crazy girl!

Happy Easter!
We had a lot of fun this Easter. On Saturday evening we colored eggs. It was Gabi's first time and she LOVED it! It was hard to convince Gabi that she had to wait for her eggs until Sunday. They were her new little babies and she wanted to keep them badly.
I love it when Easter and Conference are at the same time. Gabi even enjoyed watching! We had all the family over after for lots of food and Gabi's first Easter egg hunt. We had to get her ready by having her watch an episode of Max and Ruby where they look for eggs. Soon it was time for Gabi's turn. She started herself off with saying "ready, set, GO!" and off she went.
She is still having a great time pretending with her eggs and loves to just carry around her basket full of them.

Broken ankle...
On March 6th I sprained my ankle in my parents' driveway. I didn't really think much of it. It was my first sprain, and I was off it for about one day before I had to get back to life. A little over a week later I noticed there was still some swelling, and although I wore my tennis shoes all day in the house, the extra support didn't seem to help.
It was still hurting on March 17th, so I decided to go and get an x-ray at urgent care. It turns out that I have an "avulsion fracture of the distal fibula." Which means when I sprained my ankle, instead of breaking off or tearing the ligaments just over-stretched and nicked a small chunk of bone off of my ankle. The urgent care promptly put me in a fiberglass splint and sent me on my way with crutches and instructions to wear the splint and stay off my feet until I could get into see an orthopedist. Oh yippee....
It was five days until I could get in to see the doctor. During that time I had the lovely privilege of learning how to get around the house while 30 weeks pregnant on crutches, in a house full of stairs and a high-spirited little 2.5 year old toddler! Luckily I had some help from my wonderful family and Jack (when he could). I didn't dare try to use the crutches to get up and down the stairs (I was too afraid I would surely kill myself falling down!) So I crawled or scooted my way up and down...very very tiring!
On Monday March 22nd I went in to see the orthopedist. After examining me and looking at my x-ray, the doctor determined that I did not need the splint anymore, nor did I need a cast or a boot!! Instead, he fitted me with a brace to wear in my tennis shoes and told to go to physical therapy two times a week for about 4 weeks. If I don't see any improvement in about 6 weeks, then I'll need to go see him again. I was thrilled to lose the crutches! yay!
Now I just need to work on getting the ankle strength back again. It is nice to be able to walk around normally and go up and down the stairs again! Never thought I would miss being able to do that! :)

Welcome March!
We haven't been up to too much lately, but thought we would update you on our happenings.
Gabi is in a gymnastics class on Saturdays with Dad. They are enjoying their time together. Annie is enjoying getting a break.
Today is three months until Gabi turns THREE!! She loves birthdays, and we hope to do this birthday some justice (being that the baby is due on June 2nd).
Jack bought a truck (don't get too excited, it's basically the truck version of our red car lol) It's name is Leroy, like the song Bad, Bad Leroy Brown. It brings him much happiness and he even got a special hunter/fisherman license plate for it. Now we won't have to bum trucks from people every time I find the latest "find" at goodwill or craigslist!
Annie, is getting bigger and apparently clumsy. She tripped in her parents' driveway last Saturday and is on the mend for a sprained ankle. Not too fun in a house with stairs! :( She is also involved in taking her local CERT class and will be "graduating" this Thursday.
