Happy Easter!

We had a lot of fun this Easter. On Saturday evening we colored eggs. It was Gabi's first time and she LOVED it! It was hard to convince Gabi that she had to wait for her eggs until Sunday. They were her new little babies and she wanted to keep them badly.

I love it when Easter and Conference are at the same time. Gabi even enjoyed watching! We had all the family over after for lots of food and Gabi's first Easter egg hunt. We had to get her ready by having her watch an episode of Max and Ruby where they look for eggs. Soon it was time for Gabi's turn. She started herself off with saying "ready, set, GO!" and off she went.

She is still having a great time pretending with her eggs and loves to just carry around her basket full of them.

Broken ankle...

On March 6th I sprained my ankle in my parents' driveway. I didn't really think much of it. It was my first sprain, and I was off it for about one day before I had to get back to life. A little over a week later I noticed there was still some swelling, and although I wore my tennis shoes all day in the house, the extra support didn't seem to help.

It was still hurting on March 17th, so I decided to go and get an x-ray at urgent care. It turns out that I have an "avulsion fracture of the distal fibula." Which means when I sprained my ankle, instead of breaking off or tearing the ligaments just over-stretched and nicked a small chunk of bone off of my ankle. The urgent care promptly put me in a fiberglass splint and sent me on my way with crutches and instructions to wear the splint and stay off my feet until I could get into see an orthopedist. Oh yippee....

It was five days until I could get in to see the doctor. During that time I had the lovely privilege of learning how to get around the house while 30 weeks pregnant on crutches, in a house full of stairs and a high-spirited little 2.5 year old toddler! Luckily I had some help from my wonderful family and Jack (when he could). I didn't dare try to use the crutches to get up and down the stairs (I was too afraid I would surely kill myself falling down!) So I crawled or scooted my way up and down...very very tiring!

On Monday March 22nd I went in to see the orthopedist. After examining me and looking at my x-ray, the doctor determined that I did not need the splint anymore, nor did I need a cast or a boot!! Instead, he fitted me with a brace to wear in my tennis shoes and told to go to physical therapy two times a week for about 4 weeks. If I don't see any improvement in about 6 weeks, then I'll need to go see him again. I was thrilled to lose the crutches! yay!

Now I just need to work on getting the ankle strength back again. It is nice to be able to walk around normally and go up and down the stairs again! Never thought I would miss being able to do that! :)

Welcome March!

We haven't been up to too much lately, but thought we would update you on our happenings.

Gabi is in a gymnastics class on Saturdays with Dad. They are enjoying their time together. Annie is enjoying getting a break.

Today is three months until Gabi turns THREE!! She loves birthdays, and we hope to do this birthday some justice (being that the baby is due on June 2nd).

Jack bought a truck (don't get too excited, it's basically the truck version of our red car lol) It's name is Leroy, like the song Bad, Bad Leroy Brown. It brings him much happiness and he even got a special hunter/fisherman license plate for it. Now we won't have to bum trucks from people every time I find the latest "find" at goodwill or craigslist!

Annie, is getting bigger and apparently clumsy. She tripped in her parents' driveway last Saturday and is on the mend for a sprained ankle. Not too fun in a house with stairs! :( She is also involved in taking her local CERT class and will be "graduating" this Thursday.

Valentine's Day cookies!

This year I decided to make heart cookies. Gabi loved it! She had so much fun cutting out the cookies, and especially loved to eat them! She also wanted "leaves" spinach to eat while she was making the cookies. Who knew salad and cookies went together. :)

Vegas Babymoon

Jack and I went to Vegas for 36 hours. We had fun just being together and roaming the strip. We took pictures, but when I went to load them it said there were no pictures on the camera! :(

We stayed at the Monte Carlo, went to the Coke store and tried the drinks from around the world. We walked down the strip and had lunch in the Paris hotel. While we were there we stopped by a roulette table and Jack decided to pick red 19 (we didn't play though) It ended up being RED 19!!! We both left the area disheartened about our almost millions we could have won. LOL

We also took the opportunity and watched Avatar. Lame I know, but it's a long movie and it was hard to get away to see it without Gabi. It was a good show and it was nice to see it in the theater.

After the movie, we went to the Bellagio for their buffet. Sooooooo good! We highly recommend it. We didn't think we could walk all the way back to the hotel after that so we took a taxi.

The next day was just a great day of sleeping in until check out time, and then off to the airport to go home!

Thanks Maga and Pop pop for watching Gabi!
